Intrusive Thoughts Roll was inspired by the prayer rolls located in all Latter-day Saint temples. Traditionally, the names of individuals in need of prayers are submitted and prayed for by temple attendees. In a similar manner, this piece invites viewers with obsessive-compulsive disorder to write down their intrusive thoughts and place them inside the work for safekeeping. Proper treatment for OCD includes accepting and even welcoming the presence of intrusive thoughts, which can be terrifying and painful. This piece explores the discomfort of accepting what can feel repulsive or blasphemous and the healing power of shared suffering.

This work was created for the show with the art collective the Arch-Hive called "I Am Bound Upon a Wheel of Fire" at Writ and Vision Gallery in Provo, UT,  Dec. 2022.
